Happy new year, small gifters! We've reached the end of the party. With 44 participants and an even 50 gifts, we're done for the 2017-2018 season.

Among this year's gifts: two podfics, seven works of art, one combination of art and fic, and 40 fics. We welcomed a significant contingent of first-timers (who are now old-timers--hi, new old-timers!) and saw folks returning for the tenth, eleventh, or twelfth times. We celebrated Solstice, Hanukah, Christmas and the first snow, and we traveled as far as the Old Spanish Trail (c. 1887) and Tokyo and the Aokigahara Forest. The master list is below. (We've tried to get everything correct, but please, if you see a mistake, let us know!)

Many of you have already done so, but please remember that you can add your gift to the Archive of Our Own, to the RS_Small_Gifts_2017 collection.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to our participants--for your creativity, for your good humor, and for getting your gifts turned in. We only needed one pinch hitter this year, for our largest exchange in a long while.

Much appreciation also goes out to our readers and commenters, who have left a total of 1,308 (and counting) comments on this site since we began discussion posts at the end of November. That's significantly higher than the past few years. Thanks for making this such a chatty, friendly, welcoming community, everyone.

And finally, a special mention for [personal profile] mindabbles, who keeps this whole operation running year after year, always with a smile. You're amazing, Min.

Happy 2018, folks! May this next year be filled with all kinds of new Remus-and-Sirius joys and adventures. (And if there has to be a little hurt along the way, lots and lots of comfort afterwards.)

Your mods,
Maggie and Min

Yes, you read that right: 2016. We're still wrapping up last year as we get ready for Small Gifts 2017.

Your mods apologize. We were on the verge of finishing up last January when 2017 appeared in full force and, Dementor-like, sucked all the joy out of life. (I started off joking here, but honestly, 2017 has had some very Dementor-like qualities: political chaos, natural disasters, and tragedies large and small in the news almost every day. We hope you're safe out there. Someone teach us how to cast a Patronus charm!)

But we're back this year, now posting primarily on Dreamwidth, and stronger than ever. Last year's master list appears below. Forgive us for being late!

Your mods,
Maggie and Min

2016 by the numbers: we had 36 participants and 41 gifts ranging from 350 to 26,000 words in length. One quarter of these gifts were art or art-plus-fic. Most importantly, because one of the best things about Small Gifts has always been its sense of community, we left 847 comments for each other.

As always, we made our best efforts to get the master list right, but if you find typos or mistakes, we'd warmly welcome the correction.

Enjoy last year's party? Come join us again! Sign-ups for Small Gifts 2017 are still going on. They'll end as claiming begins this Saturday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time. (That’s 8:00 a.m. in Los Angeles, 10:00 in Mexico City, 4:00 p.m. in London, 5:00 in Berlin, 7:00 in Dubai, and 11:00 p.m. in Shanghai. Australia-Pacific folks, send us an e-mail, and we'll help you out.)

A very happy 2016 to everyone! [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts is now officially ten years old and still going strong. We had 37 gifts of fic and art from 30 participants, including 9 first-time Small Gifters and at least two of us who've participated ten years in a row. (Who all's been here since the beginning?) We've knitted with Remus and Sirius, made jewelry, solved mysteries, started a radio station, sat by the fire, stolen some sparkling ham, drunk Veritaserum, tracked down gorgeous strangers, studied cryptozoology, baby-sat Harry, baby-sat Teddy and James and Albus Severus and Lily, built blanketforts, reported the news, watched the stars, and, of course, fallen in love, over and over. We've left 650 comments for each other since we first started our discussions in late November.

It's been a blast.

Special thanks go out to everyone who commented on our gifts, keeping fandom interactive and conversational and warm and fun. Thanks also go out to our pinch-hit team of [livejournal.com profile] brighty18, [livejournal.com profile] llaeyro, and [livejournal.com profile] mustntgetmy, who all rose to the occasion brilliantly. And finally, no one manages a fest more effectively than [livejournal.com profile] mindabbles and [livejournal.com profile] sambethe without whose help Small Gifts wouldn't be possible. ([livejournal.com profile] magnetic_pole can't say thanks often enough.)

Enjoy the new year, everyone! May 2016 be filled with fannish fun and friendship.

Warmly,
Min/[livejournal.com profile] mindabbles, Maggie/[livejournal.com profile] magnetic_pole, and Sam/[livejournal.com profile] sambethe

...and we've reached the end of another year here at [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts. We've had 35 gifts from 32 artists and authors, with seven first-time participants (hurrah!) and more than few of you who've been here every year since we started in 2006. Thank you to all participants for your fic and art and your ongoing love for Remus/Sirius!

Huge thanks to those of you who read along and commented! Since we started with out introductory posts at the end of November, we've left 700 comments for one another. And much appreciation goes out to our three pinch-hitters, [livejournal.com profile] brighty18, [livejournal.com profile] chibitoaster, and [livejournal.com profile] kingzgurl, who helped us ensure everyone got a gift this season.

Best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy 2015, filled with all kinds of fannish adventures and joys! Our 2014-2015 master list is below.

With yesterday's gifts for [livejournal.com profile] woldy and [livejournal.com profile] escribo, we've finished up this year's fest! Thanks to all for another wonderful year! We had 33 participants and 45 gifts--4 art, 41 fic--bringing us up above last year's total, in fact. (Thanks for pointing that out, [livejournal.com profile] huldrejenta.)

We've seen ice festivals and sunny beaches, talking mistletoe and animate tree-toppers, glimpses of Paris, tiny tots, errant knitting projects, piano playing!Sirius, and our old fan favorite, the motorbike. Dolores Umbridge made an unpleasant but surprisingly helpful cameo. We overwhelmingly favored those mythical years after leaving Hogwarts--about half our gifts featured that period--but we also rewrote history to defeat Voldemort the first time around and dabbled in steampunk AUs.

We welcomed nine first-time participants (hurrah!) and five pinch hitters (thank you!) stepped in to save the day. Since we began with our discussions posts six weeks ago, in the last week of November, we've left 989 comments for each other. Keep commenting and help us make it over 1,000!

Thanks to everyone who made the year's fest possible--participants, watchers, commenters, cheerleaders, and those of you who provided moral support. (Min and Sam, thank you, thank you, thank you, I can never say it enough.) Half the fun of fandom is the folks you meet, and this is just such a lovely group. It's always a delight.

Happy 2014 to all!
Maggie/[livejournal.com profile] magnetic_pole, Min/[livejournal.com profile] mindabbles, and Sam/[livejournal.com profile] sambethe

Two final announcements:

* Remember to add your gifts to our collection over at AO3, if you use that archive.

* Still not enough Remus/Sirius for you? [livejournal.com profile] black_circle_dj is running again this year, for its final time. Sign-ups run through January 9!

Thanks to everyone for being a part of this year's festivities! With one final bonus fic, Small Gifts 2013 draws to a close. (And your errant mod Maggie offers you an apology for her belated gift.)

We posted 42 gifts this year (four pieces of art, one podfic, and 37 fics), the work of 36 different authors and artists. We saw our first podfic this year (yay!), dipped our toes into tumblr, and opened up a Small Gifts collection over at Archive of Our Own.

Thanks to our artists and authors, who proved that there are thousands more tails tales to tell about these two.

Commenters, reccers, betas, and cheerleaders, we love you! Your feedback keeps us all going.

A happy, happy 2013 to all!

Another year of Remus/Sirius goodness comes to a close! We had another wonderful batch of gifts this year: 63 gifts (51 fic and 12 art and art-and-fic) plus 19 drabbles written in the days leading up to the exchange.

Thank you to our participants: artists, writers, watchers, cheerleaders, betas, and pinch-hitters. We saw fireworks, Scooby Doo, mistletoe, potions accidents, St Paul's Cathedral, and not one but two AUs in which Remus and Sirius raise Draco. [livejournal.com profile] brighty commented like no one has ever commented before. Old timers returned. New folks were welcomed to the community (and impressed us with their gifts!). It's been fun to celebrate the end of the year with you! Our 2011 master list is below the cut (and please let us know if there are any mistakes or oversights).

A special thank you goes out to my fellow mods [livejournal.com profile] sambethe and [livejournal.com profile] mindabbles, who stepped in while I was on vacation in December. Min and Sambethe have always been the real brains and organization behind this fest--you should see their spreadsheets!--but this year especially they deserve a round of applause. Want to leave a prompt for a fic from me, you two? We can keep the celebrations coming into the new year.

Happy 2012, all!

Collectively we've left 2,277 comments, surpassing last week's goal of 2,000 by far. Hurrah! If comments are love, [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts is a very warm and happy place.

Well folks, it is a bit past Twelfth Night, the gifts have all been unwrapped, and Remus and Sirius have bid the last of their guests good night.

This year was quite a party! 85 gifts were given—including 63 regular gifts and 22 bonus ones. There were 3,290 (and counting…) comments left. You all, participants and watchers alike, pulled out all the stops. We can't thank you enough for your participation and enthusiasm!

A very special thank you to our pinch hitters, without whom our holiday spirit and sanity would have gone the way of the veil: [livejournal.com profile] red_squared, [livejournal.com profile] midnight_birth, [livejournal.com profile] rosemaryandrue, [livejournal.com profile] sambethe, [livejournal.com profile] taigne, and [livejournal.com profile] wandersfound. And....*drumroll*...we're there! We may see one or two extra gifts appear in the next few days, but we've finally reached the end of the 2008 exchange.

Thanks so much for participating, everyone! We've had a wonderful exchange, with 77 gifts given over the past five weeks, including six gifts of art and 71 fics, and some 2,938 comments left to date. We saw AUs, meditations on the afterlife, first kisses, last words, banter, angst...and even one or two brilliant fics set in the dreaded Missing Years after 1981. This corner of fandom is a little richer now, and thanks go to all of you for that.

Special thanks go out to our pinch-hit team, including [livejournal.com profile] brighty18, who helped us out in the early stages, and [livejournal.com profile] lazy_neutrino, [livejournal.com profile] midnitemaraud_r, [livejournal.com profile] rosivan, and [livejournal.com profile] velvetmouse, who stepped in to save the day over the holidays. Folks like you make exchanges like these possible, and we can't tell you how grateful are that you volunteered and wrote such wonderful fics under deadline.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to [livejournal.com profile] mindabbles and [livejournal.com profile] sambethe, who naively offered to help the harried [livejournal.com profile] magnetic_pole run the exchange this year and wound up doing all the work. As you know, things have been hectic at my end, and your fabulous organization, hard work, and good humor have made all the difference.

Finally, there's nothing an author or artist loves more than a little feedback. Even though the exchange may be over, leave a comment if you read a fic you like or see a wonderful piece of art; someone will appreciate it.

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful month of R/S! May 2009 be filled with art, fic, and friendship.

Thank you so much to all our fabulous writers and artists for participating, to our readers for leaving so many lovely comments, and to all our pinch hitters for saving the day! We had an *incredible* turnout this year: 80 gifts posted over the past five weeks. The Remus/Sirius stocking really overflowed with love!

Underneath the cut is the master list for this year's exchange. There may yet be another gift or two posted to the comm, but for now, enjoy a guide to the delights of [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts 2007. (And please let us know if you spot any mistakes or omissions!)

We're both still going through all the gifts posted in the last five weeks (a project for January...). If you're still reading and viewing too, please remember to comment! There's nothing an author or artists appreciates more. We're a Small Gifts comm, so even a Small Comment like '♥' or 'So sexy!' or 'Heartbreaking but brilliant' will make an artist or author's day.

Thank you - thank you - thank you! A happy new year to all!
