[identity profile] smallgiftsmods.livejournal.com
With yesterday's gifts for [livejournal.com profile] woldy and [livejournal.com profile] escribo, we've finished up this year's fest! Thanks to all for another wonderful year! We had 33 participants and 45 gifts--4 art, 41 fic--bringing us up above last year's total, in fact. (Thanks for pointing that out, [livejournal.com profile] huldrejenta.)

We've seen ice festivals and sunny beaches, talking mistletoe and animate tree-toppers, glimpses of Paris, tiny tots, errant knitting projects, piano playing!Sirius, and our old fan favorite, the motorbike. Dolores Umbridge made an unpleasant but surprisingly helpful cameo. We overwhelmingly favored those mythical years after leaving Hogwarts--about half our gifts featured that period--but we also rewrote history to defeat Voldemort the first time around and dabbled in steampunk AUs.

We welcomed nine first-time participants (hurrah!) and five pinch hitters (thank you!) stepped in to save the day. Since we began with our discussions posts six weeks ago, in the last week of November, we've left 989 comments for each other. Keep commenting and help us make it over 1,000!

Thanks to everyone who made the year's fest possible--participants, watchers, commenters, cheerleaders, and those of you who provided moral support. (Min and Sam, thank you, thank you, thank you, I can never say it enough.) Half the fun of fandom is the folks you meet, and this is just such a lovely group. It's always a delight.

Happy 2014 to all!
Maggie/[livejournal.com profile] magnetic_pole, Min/[livejournal.com profile] mindabbles, and Sam/[livejournal.com profile] sambethe

Two final announcements:

* Remember to add your gifts to our collection over at AO3, if you use that archive.

* Still not enough Remus/Sirius for you? [livejournal.com profile] black_circle_dj is running again this year, for its final time. Sign-ups run through January 9!

Title: Three Times Remus Kicked Sirius Out of Bed
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] mindabbles
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] woldy
Rating: PG-13
Contents or warnings (highlight to view): *none, unless fluff is a warning*
Word count: 2,000
Summary: The first time, he couldn't believe his luck. The second time, everything was very sticky. The third time, well, would you share the bed with something that eats socks?
Notes: [livejournal.com profile] woldy, thank you so very much for doing a pinch hit. I did a mismash of your prompts and I hope you enjoy this bit of silliness. Someone else really should expand on the Custard Explosion of 1979 and encounters with the Eater of Socks--those prompts have greater potential than I was able to do justice! :) I apologize for any mistakes and stupidity. That's all me.

Summary: Slowly, Sirius comes alive. Five weeks in hiding on La Isla Mágica.
Notes: [livejournal.com profile] torino10154, I fail at smut! This is a story about sex more than it's a particularly sexy story. I tried to include several of your other wishes, though: "getting to know you all over again," hurt/comfort, romance, "post-POA/pre-OotP setting--you pick the precise location." Thanks to S for beta help, though I've tinkered extensively, so all remaining mistakes are my own.

Rating: G
Contents or warnings (highlight to view): *magical AU, sexual suggestions (on the summary) *
Word count: 0
Summary: Sirius finds himself as a portrait, but now he wonders where is Remus portrait and why hasn't the man come out and play.
Notes: Dear [livejournal.com profile] flaminia_x I saw your wishes and this came to me, but instead of just a painted portrait why not make it animated :D So, here is what it came out. I hope you like it, and I will for sure give you that banter with Remus and Sirius later on :D Also, sorry for the way it came out, I took so long to make it smoother, but I just couldn't get it less choppier than this. However, I'll come back and try it again and hopefully it will come out better. To the lovely mods, thank you again for another wonderful year of [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts

We've got a posting break today, but your mods wanted to remind you that anything submitted to the queue in 2013 will be eligible for posting in the BONUS ROUND in the first few days of January!

* You can nab any of the prompts from the year's sign up post, remix something you enjoyed here (touch base with the original author or artist to ask permission!), or create something of your own.

* Gifts can be any length (drabbles welcome!) and can be offered to an individual or to the community.

* You don't need to be a participant in this year's fest to join in the bonus round! Everyone is welcome.

Happy holidays to those who are celebrating! May everyone enjoy this last week of 2013!

NOTE: Pinch hitters, your mods with like to thank you for your help with a bonus round drabble. Could you leave a few prompts--say, three or four--in comments here? Thank you!

Title: The Girl I Knew Somewhere
Author: [livejournal.com profile] escribo
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] laroseminuit
Rating: PG-13
Contents or warnings (highlight to view): *blatant sexual harassment in the workplace *
Word Count: 2979
Summary: Remix of Strange How We Change applying Rule 63 (for every fictional character, there exists an opposite gender counterpart)
Notes: One of [livejournal.com profile] laroseminuit's prompts was Rule 63, which states that for every fictional character, there exists an opposite gender counterpart. As a pinch hit, I didn't have time to ask for permission to apply the rule to one of her stories, so I applied it to one of my own, remixing Strange How We Change. It was a lot of fun thinking about "would a woman say that or stand like that" to figure out what could stay and what had to change and especially, "what got them there in the first place," which I'd honestly never really considered (at least not in depth) when they were boys. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed thinking about these characters in a new way!

Notes: This is a scenario I have been wanting to write for years, so [livejournal.com profile] liseuse's wildcard prompt was the most glorious excuse. The baking details are inspired by Peter Reinhart's Artisan Breads Every Day, but if this fic is flat or crumbly then the responsibility is mine alone.
