Sirius inhales one last time before banishing the cigarette with a wave of his wand. He debates lighting another when Remus catches his eye from the balcony. Before he can make a decision on what to do next, Lily punches him in the shoulder.

'Ow, Evans!'

'It's Potter, remember, and it wouldn't have happened if you were listening to my story.'

Sirius tries his best wounded look on her, but only earns her stuck out tongue in return.

'Be careful there, Potter, your husband might think you are flirting with me again. And it's not my fault if your story couldn't hold my -'

She punches him again.

Sirius scowls and pulls out another cigarette. Looking back out at the balcony, he catches Remus watching them while he talks with Fabian. He grins and thinks Remus's cheeks start to redden, but he turns his head before Sirius can get a good look.

'Are you going to do something about that?'

'Pardon?'

Lily shakes her head at him. 'Go talk to him. Or, rather, stop talking already.' Before Sirius can think of a proper response, she pushes him towards the edge of the couch. 'Go already.'

He stubs out the half smoked cigarette and catches Remus's eye again. He mouths, 'walk with me,' while grabbing his jacket. He gets up and ducks out the front door without waiting for his response. He already knows Remus will follow.

So I was trying to watch the weather report while reading this the first time through, and due to my inablility to multitask, I interpreted the line "'It's Potter, remember, and it wouldn't have happened if you were listening to my story.'" as "It's Potter, remember, and [I wouldn't have married James and thus become a Potter] if you were listening to my story."

I do love when Lily is the impetus that gets the boys together.
