Damn, I can't pick both GoF/Lie Low and OotP/Grimmauld Place. But yeah - I'm a sucker for that period. Mmm, the hurt/comfort ...

I probably chose too many genres to be really voting for a favorite, but hurt/comfort has got to be there. Basically I want angst or conflict, but I want it to get better. ;-) Throw in some porn and I'm a happy girl!

Heh, I did the same thing! I think I might like different things in different times--fluff in Hogwarts, drama and pr0n during first war, angst and flangst GOF, h/c all the time. :)

Checking (almost) every button seems to be a trend. As long as it's r/s, right? :)

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] comicsbycate! Amen, sister!
The humor is so much more fun knowing the angst in their story. The angst is more terrible knowing the fun they must have shared. And porn is porn and always welcome! :)

HUMOR because after the way JKR fucked them over they deserve some happiness from the fans. :D That doesn't mean I don't enjoy other genres, just that I prefer humor (well done over crack but crack is ok if it's not done badly).

Humour is always good for these two, although harder to manage post-Hogwarts. We need the R/S equivalent of H/D Career Fair in which everyone writes cracktastic fic about Sirius as a hairdresser, or Remus as a pirate, or both of them as ghostbusters (which, actually, would be pretty awesome :-/)

Humour can be hard to manage with what these two were given--although I like to read deeply between the lines in OotP era and imagine they had some of that (and some other things) at least when they were together. Heh, the Career Fair was great fun. You volunteering? :D

You volunteering? I'll give my standard answer for things requiring a big time commitment - only if I end up unemployed. Which is looking more and more likely...

Humor!! I should go back and check AU, too. I love the genre with regard to altering the canon so happy-making things happen, like they raise Harry, Sirius doesn't spend 12 years in Azkaban, they don't die, or at the very least they magically come back to life, etc. But I'm not fond of non-magic AUs, primarily because one of my favorite things about HP is the magic. :-P

And as I've been catching up on my flist, I see you had a birthday, so belated but heartfelt birthday wishes to you! *HUGS* ♥ ♥

Yeah, AU seems more and more the way to go with these two--otherwise it's all prison, angst, death and woe. Poor fellas. They deserve so much better than that!

Although, I do love trying to fit happiness into canon moments as well.

This is my answer too! I like all eras too provided the story is well done and has Remus and Sirius in it. And as [livejournal.com profile] epithalamium002 says, the best writers have all done something in this corner of the fandom.

As I said in my rec of one of the recent [livejournal.com profile] rs_games stories from Team AU, I would have described myself as being a canon hore and my tastes as running more to tales about character than explicit sex. So of course, I fell in love with [livejournal.com profile] remuslives23's AU, bodice ripper style, murder mystery!

I rarely venture out of this pairing except for gen fic because the stories written about R/S can satisfy all of my romance, humor, p0rn, angst, hurt/comfort, ect needs! Other pairings seem a bit bland to me unless one character is Snape. Honestly, Harry/ Draco is "I hate you!" "No, I'm really just covering up the fact that I love you. Let's shag!" Most AS/S is about best mates shagging. And I see no reason for Harry/ Draco fics where Draco is a werewolf and Harry becomes an animagus to help him ........

Now I do wish for more R/S action/ adventure stories. And mysteries! I adore mysteries. Also, I have been researching crossovers lately and can see possibilities there too ....... For instance, look at this Dr Who/ Torchwood/ HP croosover (http://lizardspots.insanejournal.com/16594.html) by [livejournal.com profile] lizardspots with Harry as The Doctor, Ron as Rose, Sirius as Captain Jack, Hermione as Gwen, Remus as Ianto, and Voldemort as a Dalek. Now isn't that inspiring?

Date: 2009-11-24 11:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] liseuse.livejournal.com
I've read some good Harry/Draco where the prevailing motif is more "well, you didn't turn out to be all bad. And you seem to be marginally helpful right now. *become reluctant comrades in arms and then circumstances conspire* Oh, all right, you're kind of halfway to good looking, for a ferret, perhaps as a matter of convenience."

But, then, I'm biased because the other pairing of my heart is Pansy/Hermione, so I think about and occasionally write younger!generation HP fic. Which means I kind of have to involve Harry and Draco.

Date: 2009-11-25 02:31 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] werewolfsfan.livejournal.com
I don't dislike Harry/Draco. I just find it more generic. There is so much canon on the trio generation that it takes a long fic to convince canon hore me that they are hot for one another, never mind a relationship.

This is why for the most part, I'm interested in the First War generation or maybe Next Gen.....

But also, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black have enough complex canon to have captured the interest of some very outstanding writers and artists! I'd compare this to the interest in Jack/ Ianto of Torchwood. And unfortunately, their creators were equally kind!

Humour is fantastic! I think they need it with all the crap the poor buggers go through thanks to that British woman. Luckily they have us to give them comfort, sex, laughs and a happy ending. :)

I love different eras depending on what I'm writing. Post POA is wonderful for hurt/comfort/angst, MWPP era is great for fluff and humour and first times. But I really like the period between them leaving Hogwarts and before everything goes to shit. I love exploring the possibilities of what might have happened to them, the changes in their dynamics, and of course, the legal porn. This pairing is perfect for so many reasons, one of which is that JKR didn't give them a lot of background - except for a few key moments - which means that we can make it up!

Yes, poor guys. It is lucky for them that they have us. Without us (and by us, I don't necessarily mean you or I), neither of them would ever get pregnant, Sirius would never be a werewolf or a vampire, Remus would never be obsessed with chocolate or books, and Sirius wouldn't shag 2/3 of the population of the wizarding world.

I do also tend to do different things in different eras.

I do find that I will read, or view, anything that is well done--within some very specific limitations about things that I find upsetting. The talent here is humbling and such a joy to get to share!

absolutely love marauder era fic/art :) I really love coming out!fic and getting together!fic. I love how it can be told so many times and there can still be a new way of doing it :D

Also, I used to be a bit =| about AU but then I read the brilliant epprep stories (I think that used to be hte title? Think it's bmbridges now) and a remuslives323 (eee did I get that username right) story which was awesome so now I'm partial to a bit of AU as well!

Ah! But my ALL TIME Favorite coming out fic is Blue Moon by [livejournal.com profile] juliefortune in which one of our heroes accidentally "outs" himself at a meeting of the Order of the Phoenix at 12 Grimmauld Place! It's a perfect combination of great and vivid characterization, hot p0rn and hilarity!

I'm still new to fandom and I can't get enough of h/c, tension/sexual tension, awkwardness, things left unsaid, mistakes, fights, misunderstandings, memory, and ghosts BECAUSE I AM A MASOCHIST.

I, ah, love humor, too.

I adore post-Hogwarts, beginning of the war, terror is looming on the horizon, but they are young and having fun in their lives at the same time. Which means I like hurt/comfort, psychological terror, conversations at cross purposes and the fact that post-school, pre-war, this can all be done with some humour and jollity in it anyway.

it's funny; i'm not huge on h/c, and that means i have no idea what i'm doing in this ship. XD it's kind of unavoidable in r/s though, so i will read it. i guess it's more that i'm not fond of h/c that shifts to the melodramatic in its telling. aaaand in my early days in fandom, too many of the h/c fics i came across were rapefic and different strokes for different folks, but that's not my cup of tea. at all. D:

but i do love me some humor/crack (that's my h/c :P), and ANGST. god, i love well-written angst that doesn't cross over into emo. i especially love first war angst, like just before 10.31.81 to be exact. of course, i also adore getting all :3 over a cute, fluffy story. and porn, of course. love me some porn. and i do like AUs, though non-magic AUs have to be really awesome for me to really get into them. so. it's looking like i'll kind of read anything r/s, isn't it? :D

as for era, it's a complete toss-up between hogwarts and post-hogwarts/pre-azkaban. i cannot ever get enough of those two, omg.

When choosing post-Hogwarts, pre-everything-goes-to-hell, I was partly thinking that everything goes to hell only at the end of OotP (or in post-OotP canon). My favourite period for writing short fic has actually first been the lost years, but there hasn’t been much to read about that era. (And my major era for writing huge fic is post-OotP – AU.)

I’m afraid one of my very favourite genres is hurt with just a little bit of comfort or hope. (Perhaps that’s why I stick to these characters and this pairing.) Another one is political themes and original additions to the magical word. A third one that surprised me: AU without magic – while I’ve never been very interested in undoing the hurt Remus and Sirius suffered in (pre-HBP) canon.

Above all, I’m thrilled to be reminded of what a wide variety of eras and genres there is in R/S that all have potential for fascinating fic.

Yes, humour for me as well.

HBP and DH for this pairing are a bit thin on the ground. I think I have one, but it is a bit difficult. Muses on the thought of maybe writing more one day.
