The Final Countdown
Nov. 25th, 2006 01:52 pmHello there! Are you excited? I'm excited!
1. We will open for claiming prompts Saturday at 14:00GST, which is 9:00 in the morning in New York City and 23:00 here in Japan.
Please claim prompts by replying to the original post.
Remember there's a second page of requests/comments.
Your reply should say something like "I, busaikko, do hereby claim Marysue's request". Also, comment with your username--this is not an anonymous exchange!
Please DO NOT claim a prompt if it has already been taken (except in the bizarre but lovely circumstance that all available prompts are claimed).
magnetic_pole will be around to assist with fitting your luggage in the overhead bins any problems or questions. I will be asleep until 6am Tokyo time, haha!
corollary A: Due to LJ post-lag, two replies may get made at the same time. If the time difference is negligible (a couple of minutes, people!) and the other prompts are going like hotcakes, I won't quibble. If the time difference is noticable and/or there are lots of languishing prompts left, Maggie or I may gently nudge the person who posted later. Please do not be offended! (FYI, busaikko will be taking the last prompt left for all-around fairness. Verily, I am afeared!)
corollary B: Really, really wanted that prompt that was snapped up? Choose it as your second after your first is done (no, I've no ulterior motives like wanting LOTS and LOTS of stories. Nope!).
corollary C: If you did not post a prompt but want to write, claim away! As you'll notice, this community is running on the honor system--everyone leaves one request, everyone responds to one. We want everyone to get a small gift! If you've realized you can't participate, please delete your original request, and if someone has already signed up for you, let that person know so she can select another recipient.
2. Don't forget to join the community as a member. You'll need to do this in order to submit your fic or art anyway, and in the meantime you'll see friendly reminders from us. *waves and smiles* We will post 2 or 3 stories a day for about a week, celebrating the end of Hanukkah, the winter solstice, the Emperor's Birthday, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and the New Year. *whew!*
3. It has been brought to our attention that Hanukkah's first official day is the 16th. Not to twist the thumbscrews or anything, but... if you get your story in the posting queue (just post to the community) in time for Hanukkah, that would be very, very cool. (You would also be eligible to pick your next prompt to play with *g*).
4. Icons! The lovely icons that
magnetic_pole and I are using can be found here. They were made by
snow_blossoms and can be used by anyone. Really! Spread the love!
love love, busaikko and magnetic pole
Remember, good things come in small packages! Fic should be 500-3000 words; icons and art are slso welcome. Everyone's busy this time of year, so no one's expecting a novel or masterwork. Have fun!
