Hiya Maggie,
I'm new to LJ and to 'small gifts'. I've claimed a prompt and have finished the fic. I have a couple of questions about sending it along to you. Do I need to have a Beta from your site check it or can I use my own Beta? Do I post it in its entirity as a post like this or use one of those cut thingys? And if I have to use a cut thingy, how do I do it? :)
Sorry, I've not posted anything other than a couple of comments and it took me forever to work that out. I'm not even sure if this is in the correct place to get answered. I'm finding LJ a little difficult to get around to be honest (though I'm very glad I somehow stumbled across your 'small gifts' from last year).
Cheers
Julie
Hi, and welcome! Nothing more impressive than new participants who've already finished their gifts!
First off, any beta you can find is wonderful--in a day or two, we'll post a small gifts "beta lounge" post where folks can offer their services or look for help, but if you already know someone who can help out, great!
As for formatting, we'll also post detailed instructions shortly. Basically, you post to the community, but because the community is "moderated," your post won't show up until one of us mods releases it when the exchange starts. You'll definitely use an lj-cut, since that's what keeps most of your text hidden and helps keep everyone's friends list manageable. (LJ's generally a pretty friendly place, but one thing that gets everyone cranky is having to scroll past someone's entire fic.) Here's how you do it. Thanks for signing up as one of your first activities! December should be a fun month. Maggie
Er, help!?
