Summary:A day in the life of the wedding of a werewolf and a runaway, and in the life they have after

“Oh god, stop shaking, you’re worse than James was,” Marlene chided, tying the end of the gold ribbon with satisfaction, then proceeding to weave in a holding spell to prevent fly-aways from escaping Sirius’ braid. “There, all done,” she said, and Sirius turned his head to the side to admire her work in the large vanity.

“Thanks, it’s just- I’m gonna go up there and make a fool of myself, I’ll trip on the bloody carpet or some shit” Sirius muttered. Marlene huffed out a breath, and then flicked the back of his head with her forefinger. Sirius yelped and glared at her as he rubbed the back of his head soothingly.

“Sirius- look at me,” she said after a moment. Sirius rolled his eyes, but met her own in the mirror as she stood behind him. “It’s Remus, we’re talking about, he’d still love you even if you said the wrong name during the vows,” Marlene assured, Sirius smiled to himself as she continued, “so don’t be an idiot and worry over it, that’s the only way you could make a fool of yourself,” She patted his shoulder once, and tucked a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear.

He stood up from the chair, and glanced at himself in the vanity once, taking in his black muggle suit, the white flower that was tucked into the pocket, and the white tie knotted neatly about his neck. It’s just Remus, Sirius echoed in his mind. It’s never just Remus, though, it’s Remus. He corrected himself. It’s Remus- I can do this.

***
It was a strange feeling, Remus felt entirely calm, and simultaneously as though he had eaten an entire packet of fizzing whizbees without pause. He knew Sirius would say yes, and he knew the wedding would go to plan. So he could only deem the nerve-inducing thrill that ran up through his spine as excitement. It was nearly a year after, but it still felt as though it was the night previous that he had asked the question to his boyfriend.

They had been drinking at a Muggle bar on a late Saturday evening, when it had come across Remus’ lodger-hazed mind that he wanted to love Sirius forever, hold his sweaty palm in his own forever. Grey eyes had widened and gleamed before he was tugged into a kiss, a murmured yes breathed against his mouth as he too was overtaken by a grin and giddy laughter.

***
Not surprisingly, all coherent thought had promptly evaded Sirius’ mind as he caught sight of his fiance. Golden curls falling into slightly darker shaded eyes, a black dress robe fitted to him in all the right areas, taught comfortably on his shoulders, and hugging his muscled calves and thighs. A shine of some sort of glitter makeup dusted along his cheekbone and over his eyelids, making Remus glow in the beaming sun that set behind him. Sirius had grinned so widely his jaw ached, eyes centered solely on his lover. McGonagall had captured his arm in a death grip, urging him to walk down the aisle at a set pace. She had whispered an encouragement in his ear before they set down the aisle, but Sirius had barely heard it, noticing with internal glee that she was smiling softly as well.

Sirius kissed her cheek as she let him off at the end of the aisle, his former head of house squeezed his arm gently before sitting down. James had grabbed his shoulder in excitement as Sirius reached his place beside him, crocodile tears already welling up in his large brown eyes. Peter was rocking on the backs of his feet in anticipation, eyes gleaming with delight as he smiled and nodded at Sirius when he arrived at the altar. Lily was beaming at both of them, her dress a shade of gold similar to the flowers in Remus’ front shirt pocket, her hands rested on the small swell of her stomach.

Sirius turned to face his lover and took Remus’ hands in his own, running his thumb over the familiar scar on Remus’ middle finger. Brown eyes trailed across his face, smiling as he held Sirius’ hands in his own- as though Sirius would fall away should Remus loosen his hold.

Sirius chided himself mentally- for all previous worry and fear had been swept away as the vows he had written flowed naturally from his lips, declaring promises of love- as well as memories of forgiveness, hardship and thankfulness. And later, finally, after tears had been swiped from both of their eyes, the innately spoken words that officiated them betrothed, and forever named Lupin-Black.

***

Remus tipped his spoon into the mug, sipping the coffee lightly to test its heat, and then proceeding to add more sugar to his taste. The warm drink did little to wake him up, but it was better than nothing. He cast a tempus, and the cursed, rushing to the bedroom where he knew his husband was still asleep. He opened the door and was shocked to see his husband sitting straight up in bed, eyes blown wide with shock, his hair a frazzled mess about his face.

“We’re gonna be late!” Sirius cried exasperatedly, tugging the sheets off of himself. Remus leaned against the doorframe and watched with slight amusement as his husband tumbled out of their bed. “Why didn’t you wake me earlier?” He padded over to the wardrobe and began sorting through clothes.

“Cause you got home at bloody four in the morning last night and it’s only nine,” Remus spoke, grabbing a pillow and tossing it at his husband’s head. Sirius laughed and dodged it, before fully stepping out of the wardrobe to look at his husband.

“Sorry, case went longer than we thought, then we got new leads from the Curse Breaker’s division, and…” Sirius trailed off and gave Remus an apologetic look, Remus’ gaze softened and he shook his head. Sirius walked across the room and pulled Remus to him, resting his head against the center of the taller’s chest.

“It’s alright- just being the wonderful partner I am,” Remus began, Sirius laughed into his chest, hugging his waist tighter as he continued, “I wanted to let you sleep a bit before we went off to James and Lil’s,” Sirius sighed and kissed the side of his neck.

“Love you,” He whispered, grinning as Remus kissed his cheek in retaliation.

“I know, I know,” Remus replied, Sirius swatted at his arm but didn’t loosen his hold.

“Fuck off,”

“I love you too, Pads,” Remus whispered, “Now fuckin’ get dressed,” Sirius laughed as another pillow was tossed at him as he retreated back to the wardrobe.

***
“Say ‘Wormy’,” Peter crooned, peering down at the little Potter, “Am I doing it wrong?”

“Considering James once tried to get him to say ‘Puddlemere’ by blasting the quidditch channel on the radio all day- I’d say no,” Lily responded, ruffling her sons’ short curls as she passed them, a cooking apron tied about her waist. Peter chuckled and opted to trail his wand in front of Harry’s face, watching the large green eyes that followed it curiously. “I’ll be back, I’ve got to help James with dinner,” she spoke, exiting the sitting room.

A moment later the fireplace let out a green spark, and the floo coughed out some powder- along with Remus and Sirius.

“My godson!” Sirius burst through the flames with a cry, joviently sweeping up the child that Peter knowingly held out to him. Harry gurgled as chaste kisses were pressed along his face.

“You’ll scare him,” Peter chided, watching his friend in amusement.

“I think my etiquette towards babies is very well, thank you very much,” Sirius explained, “Just look at him!” He propped the baby up on his hip, showcasing how Harry giggled as Sirius gently poked his cheek, “Happy as an owl.”

Remus patted Peter on the shoulder as he sat beside him, both now watching as Sirius attempted to sweep little Harry into a ballroom dance, the nine-month year old floating in front of him thanks to a carefully-cast levitation charm.

He and Peter launched into a relaxed conversation about Remus’ new teaching job; Remus occasionally sneaking soft glances at the dancing pair, a familiar warmth spread in his chest. Several moments having passed, Remus glanced at his watch, and then lifted his head to face the kitchen.

“Lily? Prongs?” He shouted, “We’re all here if you’d care to join us,” A clang that sounded like two pots falling on top of eachother sounded out, and James poked his head into the sitting room.

“Hi, you lot! Er- just a moment- rice burned,” he explained, grinning at them before disappearing back into the kitchen.

“Sorry, Remus,” Lily appeared, several strands of hair had freed themselves from her low bun, framing her face adding to the large grease stain on the front of her apron. “It’s… been a while, since we’ve had company,” Remus laughed sympathetically.

“It’s alright, need some help?” Lily cast her gaze over to where Sirius was flying Harry about like an airplane while Peter made some surprisingly accurate sound effects.

“No- keeping him busy is enough,” Remus made a salut and her laughter echoed throughout the home as she returned to the kitchen.

***

“And then, Prongs reaches out- grabs my shoulder and says- calmly I might add- ‘Oh- looks like I’ve been stabbed,’ and then passed out,” the table erupted in laughter, James chuckling behind his hand as an embarrassed blush formed on his face. “He’s lucky I paid attention in training ‘else those would’ve been his last words,”

“Ah yes, thank you, my hero,” James swooned, and Sirius tossed his dinner napkin at him.

“I think Wormy’s asleep,” Remus chuckled, nodding towards their friend whose head was resting on the table, eyes closed peacefully. His drink churned warmly in his stomach, the drunk haze from the beers they had all shared addling his brain as Remus too became rather tired.

“You wanna go then, love?” Sirius asked, placing his hand on the small of Remus’ back.

“Yeah, ‘s getting late,” Sirius nodded, and Remus hugged Lily and James tight, promising to visit them next week again, he patted the sleeping marauder’s shoulder, and took his husband’s hand as they entered the floo.

***

“That was nice,” Remus murmured, limbs tangled with Sirius’ as they lay comfortably in their bed. Sirius hummed in agreement, bringing Remus’ hand to his mouth, kissing his knuckles.

Suddenly, Sirius moved, kissing Remus’ neck rapidly. Remus laughed gently, fingers gripping the ends of his hair automatically, sighing as he bared his neck for him.

“M’ so lucky,” Sirius murmured. “So lucky,” Remus grinned softly as Sirius pulled back, he leaned forward and kissed Sirius’ forehead, before tugging him back down to his mouth.

“You have no idea.”

Ahhhh! That was so nice!!!

Aw, that was so sweet! And it's so true about nerves at a wedding, isn't it? The event's been planned, the partner is sure to say yes....and yet everyone is a nervous wreck, every time. Enjoyed! M.
