Welcome, folks! Every year at small gifts, we start off the holiday season with a week's worth of discussion posts. It's a chance to get to know other participants (or say hi again), meet our readers (hi, readers! we love you!), and while away the hours before December 1. We'll have one topic per day until November 30.

Today: introductions!

I'm nerakrose here and on ao3, and greaseonmymouth on tumblr. This is the fifth time I'm doing r/s small gifts!

I'm not sure how long I've been shipping r/s tbh, but it's been a while. I didn't get into the fandom until late 2010 though, so I guess I've been around a while by now. :) I'm less active in r/s these days, but I still write and read a bunch of hp fic. My current hp wips are Percy/Oliver (favourite rarepair ngl) and Harry/Draco.

I'm also in the volstovic cycle fandom (some might know it as havemercy), aka the fandom for the fantasy series fabled shoebox project writer ladyjaida/jaida jones went on to co-write and publish. They're some of my favourite books, chock full of queer characters, and the fandom is small but lovely. I'm doing the festivebastion exchange this season in addition to small gifts, and I'm very excited :D my icon *points* is fanart of the character Balfour from that series.

Lately I've also been getting involved with yuri on ice and just finished writing a long fic series about Emil/Mickey...I love my rarepairs and small fandoms, what can I say.

if you like gay magicians and metal dragons you'll love it! that's how we usually lure readers in ;D i came for the gay magicians and metal dragons and stayed for the characters, all of whom are wonderful. my two all-time favourite characters (and ship) are pov characters in the second book. ♥

Welcome back!!! It’s funny how times flies, isn’t it? Percy/Oliver is a great pairing. Love it. I do also love Harry/Draco. I never thought I would, but there’s also so much potential there. I guess that’s part of what I love about this stuff — rising to the challenges in the books. I can imagine that being in a smaller fandom would be fun. I would think there might even be more interaction. Although, HP fandom is certainly smaller than it used to be. :)

time certainly flies :'''D I never thought i'd be into H/D much either, and in a way I still don't really ship them...i don't see any basis in canon for it (unlike with R/S!), but...at the same time it's much easier for me to accept whichever scenario or reason or AU or what have you, for them, than for R/S. probably because i'm less emotionally invested and don't have firm headcanons for what happened during lie low at lupin's or at hogwarts or during the war, but also because for H/D it's just open-ended enough that there's more room to play. :) (and some of it is definitely spite because seriously fuck that epilogue.)

volstovic cycle is just small enough that i think most of us know each other :'D though i wouldn't mind if the fandom got a renaissance and an influx of active participants. :)

But yes,Percy/Oliver is just so...I don't know,I read about those two at times too because there's just so much possibility.

Hi! Big yoi fan, yep! And I've somehow fallen completely for the rarest of pairs, emil/Mickey...I ship victor/yuri and otabek/yurio too, But I don't read or write fanfic about them, I just reblog fanart to my yoi sideblog on tumblr.

I don't post wips, so :'''D I dunno when I'll finish it (I'm hoping early next year...I have a lot of stuff on my writing plate atm). But it's about Percy having a midlife crisis :'D (I've...already written a p/o midlife crisis fic, I realise, but in that one they've been together 20 years and this new one has the get together) anyway he and Audrey divorce and Percy somehow decides that's not enough of a change in his life and he quits his job to do something else, and takes up weird new hobbies (joins a local theatre group), and starts dating his best friend Oliver :'''D
