Welcome, folks! Every year at small gifts, we start off the holiday season with a week's worth of discussion posts. It's a chance to get to know other participants (or say hi again), meet our readers (hi, readers! we love you!), and while away the hours before December 1. We'll have one topic per day until November 30.

Hi everyone, I'm RJ. I'm snakeowls on AO3 and tumblr. I'm pretty excited to be taking part in this fest, it's my first time participating. I had a looong fandom hiatus of about 9ish years, but I'm very happy to be back. R/S Games 2017 was the first time I've written fic for ages, and I'm glad to be back writing again.

I honestly don't know when I started shipping wolfstar, probably when I read Prisoner of Azkaban! They are definitely my happy place. I also definitely read more than I write (which isn't hard since I've written hardly anything!), and R/S Games cured me of my terror at commenting on fics. Wolfstar helps us all in the end ☺️

I read in other fandoms, but HP is the only one that I participate in. I have a soft spot for AUs, anything to keep our boys alive, really.

What made you come back?

I came back after real life woes and I needed something good to keep me occupied! Books and In particular HP are my happy place, so I was very glad to dive back in.

Yep! RL woes. I recently moved across the country and started a new job, and I really need something to distract me from all the scary changes. I just started writing a shit ton of fic lololol

Welcome to the fest!!! That is a long hiatus. I am curious about what made you come back and how you find the differences. What I love about this fest is that we all have the commonality of R/S being our happy place. I agree about keeping them alive — there’s no reason not to, if we can, really. :)

I came back because no one in rl knows anything about my fandom activities, and I needed something that was just mine to cheer me up a bit. Which it has!

In the days of old what I remember is that everything was on lj, and now everything seems to be a bit more spread out. It has also meant having to get my head round tumblr, I feel like such a dinosaur sometimes. AO3 is a wonderful place, I don’t ever remember interacting much with ffn before, everything was just on lj and I chatted with people on aim or msn. But yes, change is good :)
