Hi, folks! If you're just joining us, we're on DAY FOUR of six days of discussion before Small Gifts begins posting. Start off by introducing yourself (and meeting fellow participants and watchers) over here!
Today's question: Remus or Sirius? No, no, you don't need to pick one or the other, but do you identify more with one? Do you tend to enjoy fic written from one POV? Did you find yourself attracted to one character before the other? Do you feel more protective of one? Do you tend to favor one pining...or one making the first move?

Date: 2016-11-28 11:48 pm (UTC)Moony is my favourite character in the fandom, so I mostly prefer stuff that's sympathetic to him if not in his POV; I also feel protective of him, but that may be me projecting. I used to be less fond of Sirius than I am now, but these days would happily read from either POV.
As far as pining goes most of the fic I've read where this is a thing tends to be from Sirius' POV, although not exclusively, and I think I prefer them that way. I don't have a preference on who makes the first move :)

Sirius w/ everything.

Date: 2016-11-29 07:44 am (UTC)For some weird reason, though, I prefer fic written about him to fic written from his perspective. I suppose I like to read what others think of him?
I love Remus dearly as well, of course.
I'm fairly protective of them both, because their lives were unfair buckets of garbage, so. Yeah.

Date: 2016-11-29 02:51 pm (UTC)Okay, this is actually a strange question for me. I definitely identify with Sirius the most. There are a lot of personal reasons for that that I won't spill all over the comments section, but it's really easy for me to get into his head. On the flip side, I tend to actually like Remus more, which, I suppose, in a strange way makes sense. So I have a tendency (although, not exclusively) to write from Sirius POV in a rather gushing way about Remus. And I'm a fan of all the pining, so, everyone pining all the time.

Date: 2016-11-30 12:24 am (UTC)I love Sirius. I love his charisma, his enthusiasm, his loyalty, but mostly I love his flaws. I love that he is flawed. He's an absolute tosspot sometimes, which is why he's so much fun to write. He's not afraid to speak the truth, or run in all guns blazing with only half the facts, which can make him a great plot device.
I believe that Remus and Sirius didn't get together before Azkaban, but there was certainly a lot of UST there. If they were properly together, I don't think Sirius would have suspected him of being the spy. Remus trying to deny his feelings, 'for Sirius's sake', could have made him seem shifty, like a rift had formed between them and Remus was drifting away. I think Sirius made the first move, because Remus doesn't think he deserves love and happiness and also wouldn't want to be a burden to anyone he really cared for.
