Small gifts due in 12 days!
Nov. 16th, 2016 09:02 pm“What did you get me for my Christmas?” Sirius walks up behind Remus, apparently hoping to catch him unawares as he’s doing the washing up. He's been trying to wheedle this information out of Remus for weeks.
“Sorry, what?” Remus mutters. He turns up the water with a mumbled, wandless spell.
“Christmas, Moony. Noel. Faeries and egg nog and the like. Presents and chocolate,” Sirius says, poking Remus in that ticklish spot on his side. “What did you get me?”
“Water running, can’t hear,” Remus says, waving one sudsy hand frantically. He grins at the suds as he can feel Sirius' pulse start to race.
Out of the corner of his eye, Remus see Sirius step back, hands on his hips.
“You haven’t got me anything yet, have you?”
Remus shuts off the water and loads the last of the dishes into the drying rack with a charm. “There’s loads of time left, Padfoot. Twelve days. Plenty of time. Really. That’s the equivalent of nearly three months in dog years.”
“Moony, you shouldn’t do this to him,” says James.
“It’s really not fair,” Lily says. “Look at him.”
Remus turns to look at Sirius, wiping his wet hands on his apron. He’s leaning against the kitchen counter. To the untrained observer, he’d look as casually gorgeous and confident as ever. Remus is far from an untrained observer and he sees just enough anguish behind Sirius’ beautiful eyes to break his resolve.
“Of course I’ve got you something, idiot. It’s smaller than a bread box, before you ask.”
Sirius flashes that grin that still makes Remus weak in the knees after all this time. “Good old Moony. Everyone knows the best gifts come in small packages.”
