I'm so glad this ended up having so many things you liked, and that the mix of those different tones worked for you. :-) I admit on first glance I wasn't quite sure what to do with the tea leaves idea, but what I really caught on in your prompts was that line "anything that manages to balance a sense of joy and lightheartedness with a clear-eyed understanding of the tragedy and hardships these characters have faced/will face" – that is in my wheelhouse! I wasn't sure about my ability to write banter or a Great Prank War (though I made sure to give it a passing mention!) but that, a mixture of the joy that is the Marauders and the hardship that's to come: that I can definitely take a run at. So I ended up having a ton of fun writing this for you, trying to get in some banter, but also the dark stuff, but without letting the dark stuff overwhelm it all. I hadn't written Hogwarts-era Marauders in ages, either, so that was fun too. So thank you for your prompts! And thank you for your lovely comment.
