Am fond of: Hogwarts-era fic, holiday-centric fic, snow, pranks (but not "The Prank"), James, Lily, James/Lily, Peter being a part of the friend group, banter, a strong sense of place, Hogwarts, fun worldbuilding and use of the magical nature of the setting, escalating absurdity, PINING, get-together fic, anything that manages to balance a sense of joy and lightheartedness with a clear-eyed understanding of the tragedy and hardships these characters have faced/will face, hurt/comfort, There Was Only One Bed, pretending to be a couple, subversions of the last two mentioned tropes.
For art, I like bold, loose lines and warm colors, anything that still feels kind of "sketch-y," backgrounds and details that make use of the fact that this is a magical setting, and a more cartoony style. I don't particularly like overly-realistic styles or manips.
Wild card challenge: tell me about the Great Christmas Prank War of 1977!
I am new to Small Gifts this year (if so, welcome!): Actually, I think I may have participated in the very first one under a different pseud? But that was so long ago I probably qualify as new. :)
