Thank you so much!! I firmly believe they did break out a few times. I also believe that when Sirius fell through the veil he went 'oh fuck, no, you don't understand...' -tells it his, remus, potters life stories- and the veil went 'You poor dears. Here-" and shoved him back out again. So yes, they did retire in the cottage.
