Well, this was certainly evocative. Your setting was so lush and clear and inspiring, and what a wonderful way to blend canon with this lovely local. The harshness of the time mixed with the fear of being caught, but too in love (even when he couldn't admit it to himself) to let it go. Just lovely. Every bit of this, honestly. I love the apparition eventually becoming Sirius coming back to him. Because, honestly, where else would he go? And so many things about this that it would take me far too long to list. What a lovely, heartrending story.
