Anything could happen, Remus thinks. Anything and everything – no longer sleepy, he feels the buzz of incipient magic, some imminent transformation. Leaning against Sirius, with the flutter of his pulse fizzing through him, with the soft huff and thrum of Sirius's breath against him, with anything and everything before him, Remus waits. ***sighs***
So well written! That was my very first thought: so well written! This piece has a lovely, "modern novel" quality to it, making it the sort of thing I would want to read regardless of who was in it. But the fact that Remus and Sirius (and the rest of the Marauders) are in it make it all the better. I love your characterizations, too. Each Marauder feel spot on, but not in the least bit cliche - and that is a treat in itself. You do such a fine job of subtly allowing their personalities to come through via witty dialog and references. Peter's unsuccessful trip to Germany and James's teasing are all perfect examples of that. And Sirius and Remus were absolutely lovely! The undercurrent of intimacy in each and every interaction between them is palpable and charming. They're so very believable.
But, again, it is the tone and pacing of this that really struck me. It has a beautiful "lazy" feeling to it. Not lazily written-mind you, but very naturally paced, like a slow moving river or time itself. Nothing felt rushed or out of place; everything was just... "right."

Oh, and the locket was brilliant and clever!
Well done!
