I think food can't be magicked into existence, bcos it's an exception to Gamp's Law (at least, this is what Hermione tells Ron). Good questions about the shampoo and toothpaste, though. In the Prefect's Bathroom, I imagine they do just arrive.
Only a few customers notice the moon pattern to the loaf variation, & mostly they're people with an interest in astrology. Remus acts surprised when told the post-moon loaves are better, and tentatively suggests that the moon must have some kind of influence on the yeast - maybe they're subtly effected by light levels? Yeast are mysterious & he's always thought they were a little bit magical. Then the customers nod, share other stories of weird effects (more traffic accidents on Friday the 13th, or more arguments when mercury is in retrograde), and wander off happy, and Susan tries very hard not to snigger.
