Countdown to Small Gifts 5/7: Poll: Beyond the OTP

How does R/S fit into your fannish life these days, folks? Into your larger fannish career? Did they help you get into fandom, or were you already involved in another pairing or fandom before you found them? Do you read/write/draw them currently, or are they an older pairing for you? Are there certain themes or emotions you associate with them?

[Poll #1491309]

I started writing/drawing them in October this year, lol. I've read them since 2005 but never wrote my own, for some reason or another, despite their being my favourite pairing by far. I wrote Snape-gen, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Luna-gen, but never the thing I enjoyed reading the most.

To be honest, I associate hope and redemption with them the most. Is that a really cheesy thing to say oh god

Wow, what made you decide to start writing them after all that time? I think that is probably a really unusual trajectory. Anyway, we're glad you're here!

I have no idea, really D: I remember getting back into fandom after a long, long hiatus in October and thinking "I've always wanted to do R/S" so just sort of doing it non-stop for days. I think it was because I was never quite sure I could write teenage boys, not being one myself, so I dithered over whether I should write them during MWPP (my favourite era) for years, and then never did. Only now I am and I haven't stopped R/S since I started :D

Actually, I think those are the elements that make this pairing so endlessly fulfilling. They both betrayed one another and yet even in canon forgive one another to a point of living together. Everyone wants to give them some happiness that JKR didn't grant them.
Even in AU, most writers find a way to keep their complications. Remus usually has kind of a disability or problem and Sirius is never from a big happy family...... LOL!
