What a wonderful piece. I'm struggling to find new and awesome things to say that haven't already been mentioned! While Sirius is my favourite, i have a deepseated interest in Remus's socalled 'lost years'. It would've been an utterly desolate time for him, and I think you've captured that isolation, grief, and not wanting to stay in one place too long very well.
The little snippet about Sirius waiting every full moon for remus was a little heartbreaking. For all that Remus felt betrayed, it would've been hard for Sirius to rot in azkaban, thinking that remus thought he was a murderer.

the lamp being given away, then tracked down again, really worked. I liked his revelation that he'd let what Sirius had 'done' colour his other memories of his friends, and he chose to reclaim it. By the same token, when Sirius sees it when he returns, i guess to him it'd be that one little thing that showed him maybe remus hadn't completely given up on him (even though that's sort of the wrong conclusion to jump to *G*)

Also, i loved the description of the feeling sirius has when he transforms as a 'full-body sneeze' - wonderful metaphor!

Very beautiful writing.
