I re-iterate those particular lines from the first section, [livejournal.com profile] sea_schtick, as they're my favourite parts, too :)

The fact that Remus turned Sirius down so vehemently, and it causes a schism in their friendship really appealed to me. James' gripes about adult problems and Remus's use of silence and avoidance were particularly nice characterisations.

James and Sirius trying to help Remus financially was very fitting, as was his pride and trying to make his money stretch. Remus's list was wonderful and perfect.

I loved how Remus and Sirius both drifted to think of one another at the most ordinary times. And the chess game was so much more than a chess game; each move or play had a sub-textual moment, a read-between-the-lines mentality that both players seemed eminently aware of. The fact that Remus did cave at the end, much in the way that Sirius first approached him was lovely and fit the story perfectly.

I love in-denial Remus. Great piece!
