Oh, now there’s just the hope left that you didn’t scrap the sad piece in the sense of totally throwing away, deleting it all. Perhaps you have the scraps left and you can still use them, combining them with so much hope that we can face the sadness. I tend to choose some of the hardest times in Remus’s life to write about (although I still haven’t tackled the time immediately after Halloween 1981), but I don’t think I ever leave everyone completely helpless. Here both Remus and Sirius can offer some help to each other, so it becomes bearable even though we must cry.

I really should read a bit more widely (after first commenting on gifts around here, having now caught up with comments on my entry) and check out some more gen. I tend to think that pure gen is too little about emotions to touch me.
