Ah, what a beautiful story! There's an air of melancholy and hesitancy about it all, the looking-backwards to their school days, the awkward wait for Sirius to arrive, Remus not wanting to put himself forward, but all such warmth and comfort, too. I actually forgot to read the summary, so I didn't know where this was headed, and only toward the end did I properly register the "Christmas Eve, 1982" and realize where we were and how the "joy" was going to be in the ordinariness of just being able to enjoy a holiday with his friends.
