Oh.My.Gawd. That was truly one of the best and most enjoyably compelling things I have read in a long time, including both fan fic an non-fanfic. It's rather a masterpiece, really: a skillful balance of suspense (both psychological and situational), sex, humor, and character development all exquisitely written. Seriously, it read like a really good novel or short story and would have worked just as well were in not fanfic. And that's rather rare.
It was also one of those pieces that make me want to quote the whole thing back. There were so many beautiful, well-crafted passages. But I will settle for this: He kissed Remus, watching his face resolve, unabstracting, crystal and vivid as the yearning he knew had transformed his own. It was the only choice worth making. Easy arithmetic, simple science, no magic like the deathless compass of someone else’s beating heart underneath your skin. They would never need any spell.
And, for what it is worth, they (and you) have good culinary taste - or at least the same as me. I actually had breakfast sandwiches with egg, mushroom, and goat cheese the other day and the thought of those grilled cheese sandwhiches and soup made my mouth water.
This was truly fantastic, the sort of thing I had to read slowly in order to savor.
