oh my god!!!!!! THANK YOU so so so much for this incredible thing--how lucky am I to get such a richly detailed story with all the creepy vibes I could have wanted for the holidays!! You've really killed it with the frantic horror here, all the action is breakneck and snowballs emotionally in a way I really dig, and I'm a big fan of morally ruthless puppetmaster is-he-or-isn't-he-omniscient Dumbledore so I LOVED that reveal at the end--thank you so much for putting it in there! I didn't expect it at all and it's making me want to go back and re-read the story from the start with all that in mind.
The detail in this was such a delight, you captured the flow from London to Japan so thrillingly. Also huge props for making me hungry, your descriptions of food were amazing, and the stark vivid terror of the ghost girl was great--she reminded me of seeing Lady Snowblood aaages ago and I would read a fic ft. her bloody adventures as a landlocked siren in half a heartbeat!!! BUT of course I was rooting for r/s and was thrilled to see them finally get together after a life-or-death ordeal and I love that you had them take a trip through hell to get there first because GOD I love it when it takes them foreverrrr to get over themselves and on each other; you did it so beautifully and it was all so perfectly emotionally charged in a way that's going to stick with me for days and I'm so dearly happy about it.
Other things I loved: Remus's jealousy because YES, the intricate atmospheric touches throughout the whole story, your wintry turns of phrase, the threads of magic woven all over, how Sirius's dreams resolve themselves into something concrete and terrifying. And that ending!!! Those very last lines (I'll BET he can watch Remus's back), that gorgeous strike of hope in the face of everything... ahhh. I love it, and I love the progression of their feelings here--everything so new and raw and so very sweet. Just, thanks for giving them that sliver of togetherness after all that. My heart feels overflowing <3
Again--thank you so much for writing this and for all the ways this story built and built on itself, it is just SO MUCH and I'm ecstatic to have received such a wonderful gift from such a lovely writer. I can't thank you enough for writing this and for how happy I was to get to sink my teeth into it tonight. Happy holidays bud--I hope they're jolly and bright etc for you and the new year is full of good things (and plenty of r/s of course) to come. This is such a joy <3<3<3
