I loved what you did with all the characters, from Remus' neighbours to Marlene and Dorcas, bringing them so clearly to life (*rereads last line: damn you!*) I love the careful, glitering, crowded and hopeful waiting-for-Christmas surface skimmed over that terror of war, the fears that no-one can really admit, not even to themselves. Thank goodness I keep a hankie next to the keyboard, is all I can say!
