Offhand, I cannot think of a fic I have written in which I've actually included a real battle as more than a mention or a gesture. I've had people wounded from them. Oh! I lie! One of the little drabbles I did for one of the prompt comms had a battle, but it's possibly the least favourite thing I have ever written. I always find that the general tedium of real life is more interesting and varied to write about.
