Yes, he knows but Sirius is fifteen years old and the air is that certain sort of drowning-hot and his mother is screaming downstairs, scritch scratch of Regulus's quill is scraping against his eyelids even though he's two rooms and four walls of peeling green wallpaper away.
He thinks that maybe he’s gone utterly mad because the way Remus writes his ‘I’s and ‘J’s makes his skin tight and his throat dry like there’s no room for breathing what with all the missing he feels.
