Oh wow, that was ... wow. First of all, I love the original Strange How We Change, but this is a whole new level of awesome.

When I gave 'rule 63' as a prompt, I was really hoping someone would choose it and run with it, because I think it really does give us the opportunity to challenge some of the assumptions we use when we're writing and reading. For instance, I read Petra's behavior here as much more callous and judgmental as Peter's identical behavior in the original - perhaps because I expect a woman to be more understanding and co-operative. And Rhea's dad wanting her to move home aligns with social pressure against young women living on their own in the city. And I think Mr Tavers is a character every woman is somewhat familiar with in real life.

I just love all the great imagery, too: Leander sneaking in the the girls' dormitory, Sirius's shoes all over everywhere (somehow I'm getting the image of steel-toed boots and four-inch stilettos lying next to each other, depending on the whim of the day), Rhea memory-charming her boss while her hand is still stinging from the slap.

Thanks so much for this! I'm doubly impressed that you produced this as a pinch hit, but then again, you're you, and your work is always amazing.
