This is fantastic in myriad ways. The theme of being yourself/being someone else/being outside yourself was expertly woven into the story and gave it a lovely almost melancholy feeling at times. At the same time – especially at the end with Sirius’ accusations of Remus being brave and reckless – it was also quite amusing.

I love the whole tone and the way you blend humor and angst and hurt-comfort. Poor Remus! I adore a dry, sarcastic, put-upon Remus and he’s at his best here. Right, Lupin, get a hold of yourself. So. You're in a nightclub. Fine, so it's a gay nightclub, but who says all those blokes out there aren't perfectly nice people, yeah? I mean, sure, that one bloke who kissed your ear was your father's age—Oh, God, don't go there, do not even think about it—okay. Relax. You can handle this. You're a bloody werewolf for fuck's sake! Grow a pair of bollocks! LOL. Still, though, he remains very brave and loyal – a lot like Sirius, in fact, though he’d never realize it.

This (and the passages around it) so nicely sum –up Sirius better than most any other short description I’ve ever read: Of course, Sirius could also be a world class bastard, stubborn, irascible, and utterly narcissistic. Remus knew this side of him intimately, and yet it still didn't matter, because in the end, Sirius was also fiercely loyal to those he loved, kind-hearted, and even affectionate when no one else was looking; especially around and directly after the full moons. It was nicely placed, too, for it very much spoke to Remus’ love and loyalty. We can totally see WHY he’d love him and James would worry about him.

The scene in the bar was particularly well done. I found that I really loved Andrew; he was so genuine and kind. And how brave of Remus to come to poor Sirius’ rescue. Sadly, that kind of shit really happens, too, and I am glad that Remus was there. Rape would have been the last thing Sirius needed and I really felt for him in his description of it later. Of course he would want to feel good and be outside himself.

And the whole resolution: the kiss, the confessions, Sirius’ hilarious almost-narcissistic dialog was priceless.

Finally, there were such wonderful little bits and pieces here. James’ voice (and overuse of punctuation and hyperbole) is fantastic. I totally imagine him talking and writing that way. And this, "Relax. I told you Nigel wasn't like that. Besides, he's got someone at home who wouldn't be all that happy to have a puppy tagging alongside." made me laugh. Nice use of “puppy.” Finally, I have to give you major props for Sirius’ awareness of grammar and language. It’s a little thing, but I really love it when he questions the validity of words or says stuff like this: "What kind of question is that?"

"A proper one, with a subject and a predicate, and even a nice little question mark at the end.

Again, this was brilliant and I will definitely be reccing it on my journal.
